Connecting by API
With an API connection, Shop Commander pulls your data from the store on a schedule. Nothing is installed on the store itself, which makes it the natural choice for agencies and anyone managing client stores. Everything is set up from your Shop Commander dashboard.
Where to connect
Sign in, open the account menu and choose Profile. In the Connected Stores & Analytics card, click Connect Platform and pick what you want to connect.
WooCommerce
- In the store's WordPress admin, go to WooCommerce → Settings → Advanced → REST API and click Add Key.
- Give it a description (for example "Shop Commander"), choose a user, and set permissions to Read. Read-only is all Shop Commander needs.
- Copy the Consumer Key (starts with
ck_) and Consumer Secret (starts withcs_). - In Shop Commander, choose WooCommerce, enter the Store URL, paste both keys, and click Connect WooCommerce.
The first sync pulls the store's full order history, so it can take a while on a busy store. After that, only new and changed orders are pulled.
How often data syncs
Sync times are Eastern Time (Toronto) and depend on your plan:

Need fresher numbers? Each store card has a Sync Orders button that pulls the last 30 days on demand. Want real-time orders instead? Use the WordPress plugin.
Analytics: Google Analytics 4 and Matomo
- Google Analytics: choose Google Analytics, click Connect with Google, sign in, then pick your GA4 property and click Connect Property. Access is read-only.
- Matomo: enter a Site Name, your Matomo Instance URL, the Site ID, and an API token (in Matomo: Personal → Security → Auth tokens).
Visitor data is pulled daily. Store cards for analytics also have Quick Update and Full Sync (30 days) buttons. Analytics connections are available on paid plans.
Affiliates: Awin
Enter a connection name, your Advertiser ID and an API token (in Awin: Account → API Credentials). Shop Commander tests the credentials before saving. Awin is available on Growth plans and up.
Linking analytics and affiliates to a store
On an analytics or affiliate card, click Link to store for filtering and choose the store it belongs to. When you filter the dashboard to that store, its linked traffic and affiliate data come along.
For agencies
- Client groups (Operator plans and up): group each client's stores, then use Switch View on the dashboard to see one client at a time or everything together.
- Client logins (Agency plans): invite a client to see only their own stores, as a Viewer or an Editor. Clients don't need their own subscription.
- Team members: invite colleagues as Viewer, Editor or Admin.
Plugin and API on the same store
Each store card shows how it's connected: Plugin when the WordPress plugin has reported in the last 48 hours, or API pull. If a store connected by API later installs the plugin, Shop Commander switches to the plugin's real-time data automatically and never counts an order twice. If a store already uses the plugin, there's no need to add it by API as well.
